Our youth today will grow up in a world that is very different from the one we know now. Climate change and over exploitation of natural resources continues to place unprecedented pressures on the planet. This phenomenon will create new demands but also new opportunities for young people in an increasingly interdependent world.
Education is the first step in creating change. The crucial step in preparing future
generations to be environmentally conscious and responsible. In line with the national sustainability agenda under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, WWF-Singapore is committed to strengthening green efforts within the community.
As decision makers of the future, youth play a critical role in shaping the society in which we live. Our programmes aim to inspire youth of all ages and take a holistic approach in educating the next generation. We provide them platforms to experiment with their ideas and to help them understand real world issues. We provide capacity building opportunities for them to learn new skills and connect with industry experts.
The outreach of our programmes go beyond the classroom. With the knowledge and skills gained from our programmes, they can influence their peers and even parents to create a positive change within the community.

WWF-Singapore’s programmes aim to inspire the youth of all ages and take a holistic approach to educate the next generation about sustainability. WWF-Singapore’s commitment extends beyond the traditional classroom settings. We conduct initiatives such as informative school talks on Singapore’s key conservation issues, immersive outdoor experiences through WWF Explores, and career talks aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to embark on a career in the sustainability field.
To recognise the crucial role of educators, WWF-Singapore aims to guide educators in integrating environmental education into their school curriculum through our Educator Engagements.
WWF Eco-Schools Programme was launched in 2013 and started out with 7 primary and secondary schools. Today, we have over 120 schools in Singapore, from preschool to tertiary levels, onboard the programme.
The programme embeds UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) framework and follows a 7-step methodology that aims to help schools maximise the success of their ambitions. It involves a wide diversity of individuals from the school community – with students playing a primary role in the process. This strongly complements the Ministry of Education’s Eco-Stewardship programme.
With focused projects and initiatives, students are guided through a problem-solving process where they get to implement solutions they have identified to solve issues such as reducing the carbon footprint of schools, reducing single-use plastics in schools and eliminating food waste.
Students are given a safe space and platform to think critically about environmental challenges, where their voices and opinions are heard. and empowered to let their voices be heard.
By 2023, WWF-Singapore aims to enrol 30,000 students, support 140 schools, train 100 teachers and fully engage 450 student leaders.
#WeGotThis is a youth sustainability incubator programme which aims to empower a generation of digital natives to use their strengths to become sustainability advocates. The programme is geared towards youth aged 18-30 years old who care about sustainability and want to learn how to contribute towards positive environmental and social impact through digital advocacy skills.
The programme’s three pillars: Awareness, Confidence and Access, are geared to not only equip youths to become advocates but to mould sustainability leaders through the Masterclasses, Boot Camp and Mentorship.
WeGotThis aims to build the base for a youth-led conscious citizen movement reaching 1 million youth.
Over 1,000 youth have taken part in #WeGotThis since its launch in 2021.
WWF-Singapore’s programmes aim to inspire the youth of all ages and take a holistic approach to educate the next generation about sustainability.
