As the national operator of the Eco-Schools Programme, a UNESCO recognised Environmental Education framework, WWF-Singapore equips students with essential knowledge and skills to spearhead environmental initiatives within their schools.
WWF-Singapore strives to encourage Singapore schools to adopt more green initiatives, which aligns with Singapore’s Green Plan to strengthen green efforts in schools. The WWF Schools Programme is aligned with MOE’s Eco-Stewardship Programme, which aims to:-
WWF-Singapore’s commitment extends beyond the traditional classroom settings. We conduct initiatives such as informative school talks on Singapore’s key conservation issues, immersive outdoor experiences through WWF Explores, and career talks aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle complex environmental problems.
To recognise the crucial role of educators, WWF-Singapore aims to guide teaching staff in seamlessly integrating environmental education into their school curriculum and everyday teaching through our Educator Engagements.
The WWF Schools Projects focuses on student-led initiatives, supporting and empowering students to become leaders of change within their school community.
It employs a 7-step framework that fosters a self-motivated mindset and equips students with the skills and responsibilities of active global citizens.
In Singapore, various key projects are available, enabling students to collaborate closely with us in initiating positive change within their schools.
The projects below introduces sustainability-related topics to students and involves the implementation of initiatives within the school community.
Research-based environmental projects empower students to actively engage in environmental issues through investigative learning and scientific inquiry. The projects below encourage students to explore and address real-world challenges by conducting their own research or audit.
These projects are designed to align with MOE’s curriculum, and a dedicated WWF consultant will be assigned to guide your students, ensuring a successful project experience.
These School Projects are exclusively offered to schools registered under the WWF Eco-Schools Programme. This comprehensive programme empowers students to emerge as environmental leaders and effect real change.
Schools that complete a WWF Schools Project in any of the key focus areas are eligible to apply for the Eco-Schools Awards. The Eco-Schools Awards recognises and celebrates the achievements and efforts of schools in their greening journey.
There are three levels of awards (in ascending order): Bronze, Silver certificates, and the most prestigious internationally recognised Green Flag. Winners will receive a certificate, plaque and cash prize.
The Excellence Award for Community Outreach recognises schools that have executed a meaningful outreach campaign to educate the community about sustainability and environmental issues.
The Excellence Award for Campaigns recognises schools that have executed a meaningful campaign within the school to educate students, educators and staff about sustainability and environmental issues.
The Award Criteria will be made available to registered WWF Eco-Schools that have completed a School-Wide Project. Schools may then apply for the award during specific periods as announced by WWF-Singapore.
WWF-Singapore conducts school talks on Singapore’s key conservation issues, skills workshops such as outdoor education, and career talks for students to build their knowledge and skills on various sustainability and environmental topics.
WWF-Singapore organises talks to engage and inspire students to become responsible individuals who adopt sustainable lifestyle practices. Our talks are tailored to students from preschool to Junior College, with each session lasting for 45 minutes.
School Talk Topics:
WWF Explores engages students in various environmental topics through outdoor education. Students gain environmental knowledge and skills through hands-on engagements such as guided walks and research survey exercises.
Student Engagement Opportunities:
Students will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts about working in the sustainability and the environmental field. These carefully curated sessions aim to showcase the diversity of green jobs and provide students with knowledge on planning their career paths.
Biogirl MJ shared about her personal journey and experiences in her different roles from her stint at the museum, to Wildlife Reserves Singapore, to NParks and even a Science teacher and how she eventually ventured into content creation for her own channel.
Jodie shared how she rechannels unavoidable food waste like eggshells and coffee grounds into alternative clay materials for industrial applications in both the built and natural environment

PhD Graduate focused on small-bodied sharks and stingrays caught by fisheries in Southeast Asia
Dr Naomi shared her journey in marine conservation and answered questions from students on her life as a researcher, past and present work experiences.
WWF-Singapore collaborates closely with teachers to enhance understanding and integration of environmental topics across all aspects of teaching. Through educator engagements, we aim to identify current gaps in environmental education and provide support to help educators seamlessly integrate environmental education into their school curriculum and teaching practices.
The WWF-Singapore E-learning platform is designed to empower independent learning on various environmental topics. Students can delve into the content at their own pace, followed by interactive class discussions and reflections upon course completion. To gauge understanding, each course concludes with a brief quiz, and successful participants will receive an e-certificate—a token of their newfound knowledge. These courses are for students aged 10-16 years old.
WWF-Singapore is proud to launch the Secrets of the Forest Lesson Kit. This kit is designed to provide educators for Kindergarten 1 to Primary 3 (5 to 9 years old) with the tools and resources needed to independently deliver engaging lessons about forests and wildlife conservation. The kit includes three themed workshops, each featuring an interactive slideshow and a hands-on activity. Each workshop builds on students’ prior knowledge, helping them explore and appreciate the forestscape in a meaningful and actionable way. Our goal is for this lesson kit to inspire curiosity and foster a lasting love for nature in your students.

The Environmental Education Resource Kit for Preschoolers proudly aims to raise awareness on forest and biodiversity conservation amongst our youth in Singapore. The specially curated content enables educators and parents to engage with preschoolers on key environmental topics and empower them with simple actions they can take for our planet.
