WWF is organising Earth Hour 2011 in Singapore for the third year running. To mark Earth Hour on Saturday 26 March, WWF will be hosting a series of activities, including the first ever walk ‘in-the-dark’. This year’s campaign sponsors are Credit Suisse and IKEA Singapore. Other key partners include Leo Burnett, Weber Shandwick, Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), SAFRA Radio and the Singapore Scout Association.
The Earth Hour Night Walk
The Earth Hour Night Walk will commence at 8.30pm at The Promontory @ Marina Bay. The route will pass by Marina Bay Sands, The Float@Marina Bay, Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay, One Fullerton, Clifford Pier and finally will end back at The Promontory. This walk is approximately 3.5km long and will take about one hour to complete. Celebrity supporters of Earth Hour, Nadya Hutagalung and Tung Soo Hua, will also be joining us for the walk, amongst others.
Participation in the Earth Hour Night Walk comes at a fee of S$15 and registration is through the WWF website at staging.wwfsg.net. Children aged 12 years old and below can join for free. Participants will get an exciting goodie bag with each registration.
In addition, walk participants can decide to make an extra donation to support WWF’s nature conservation efforts and environmental awareness activities in Singapore. In appreciation, an Earth Hour T-shirt will be given away with every donation of S$15 and above (this does not include the Night Walk registration fees).
Everyone is warmly invited to attend the Earth Hour celebration as a sign of support to the fight against climate change, so please do join us together with your loved ones for a meaningful evening in the dark.
